Sandeman Porto Vau Vintage 2000 is a Vintage Porto of exceptional quality, contemporary in style. It can may be enjoyed with pleasure while still young or after ageing.
Deep red, opaque and inky, intense fresh red fruit aromas. In the mouth, rich plummy flavours with hints of strawberry are supported by soft tannins which give a firm backbone and will allow it to age over several years.
Wines from Sandeman\\\'s \\\"A\\\" rated Quinta do Vau are blended with wines selected from other \\\"A\\\" rated farms for their fruit and power. The soft tannins meld perfectly with the fruit to give a sensation of balanced power. After the second winter the wines are bottled and shipped.
These exceptional wines chosen to make up the final blend of the Sandeman Porto Vau Vintage 2000 were taken to the lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia where, after two years, the final blend was bottled with no prior treatment, in black glass sealed with a long natural cork closure for prolonged ageing.
Sandeman Porto Vau Vintage 2000, as with all other Vintage Portos, should be kept horizontally, sheltered from direct light at constant humidity and temperature of 16ºC-18ºC.
If aged for more than 5 years, Sandeman Porto Vau Vintage 2000 may require decanting. For that purpose the bottle should be kept upright for at least 24 hours and the cork carefully extracted. The clear wine should then slowly be poured into a decanter without letting the sediment through. Serve between 16ºC-18ºC. Once open, Sandeman Porto Vau Vintage 2000 should be enjoyed within 2-3 days, approximately.
Matches well with full rich dark chocolate desserts, red fruit tarts and pies as well as creamy cheeses.
