Sandeman Vintage 2011 rated 97 points by Wine Spectator

The House of Sandeman is pleased to inform that its Sandeman Vintage 2011 Porto has been rated 97 points by the Wine Spectator, one of the most influential wine publications in the world (1).

“From the very start”, admits Luís Sottomayor, head winemaker for Sandeman Porto, “we all felt the excitement and belief that such a promising harvest could deliver Portos of enormous potential. In all my experience as a winemaker, I have never witnessed Porto wines with such depth of colour, complexity of flavour, structure and power. We are confident that the Sandeman 2011 Vintage has an extremely long future ahead of it”. Kim Marcus at WS agrees: “best from 2040 through 2060″.

Sandeman Vintage 2011 Porto is complex yet elegant in character. Almost opaque, it is purple-deep crimson to the rim. On the nose, it entices with aromas of blueberry and cassis, notes of cedar and cigar boxes and hints of nutmeg, saffron and black pepper. On the palate, its balance impresses. The lively, powerful, close knit tannins are integrated with the elegant acidity to support the rich flavours of ripe red berry fruits and the cedar notes from its time in oak. The finish is persistent and memorable.

Sandeman Vintage 2011 Porto, a true classic that embodies more than 200 years of expertise handed down from generation to generation.
