Seixo is Sogrape's new restaurant with Chef Vasco Coelho Santos

At the beginning of September, Quinta do Seixo in Tabuaço welcomes Chef Vasco Coelho Santos' new restaurant with Sogrape. Seixo is the name of the project.

 

Seixo by Vasco Coelho Santos is a new gastronomic project involving Sogrape and the Chef from the Euskalduna Group, located in the heart of the Douro Region. The restaurant originates in Quinta do Seixo, a property that serves as the birthplace of the best Sandeman Port Wines, with a privileged location in Cima-Corgo and a stunning view of the Douro River and the nearby town of Pinhão.

 

"Since its opening in 2007, Sandeman's Quinta do Seixo has been a reference in wine tourism in the region," says Sogrape. "The opening of the restaurant with Chef Vasco Coelho Santos is a project that fills us with pride and reinforces our commitment to a segment that is proving to be increasingly important for the company and its brands."

 

"I am very happy with the creation of this partnership. It will be a gastronomic concept that means a lot to me, different from what exists in other spaces of the Euskalduna Group. In addition, the Douro has been growing and I am very excited by the opportunity to create another project for this region," says Chef Vasco Coelho Santos.

 

The menu will be à la carte and include typical flavours from the Douro and the North, as well as elements from other parts of the country. Creamy octopus rice, Tripas à Euskalduna, Bochechas no Tacho or the famous Chef’s Rabanada are some of the dishes that will feature on the menu. 

 

"We will mainly work with national and regional produce. It will be comfort food and memories, always with a sustainable and seasonal aspect and with the addition of fire cooking," explains the Chef.

 

With an indoor and outdoor area, the restaurant can seat around 100 people. Wood, and green and reddish tones are predominant in the furniture, which is livened up by various decorative elements from Sandeman's history. The architecture and decoration of the space were designed by architect Paulo Lobo.

 

The restaurant will open on 23rd September. Initially, Seixo will operate from Wednesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and on Sundays for lunch. Reservations can be made via email geral@restauranteseixo.pt or by telephone 937021206.

 

Seixo by Vasco Coelho Santos is additionally the result of a partnership with Parque da Penha, also involved in the management of the restaurant project with the Euskalduna Group.
